Your Mental Health Is As Important A Your Physical Health- Your Wellness

Pleasure gives you a momentary state of happiness and feel good factor.


The soundness of our mental status has it’s bearing on our whole being- Body Soul and Spirit.


So what about our Spiritual Health?


Spirituality In Mental Health - Lets Explore.


Our spirituality is closely connected to our mental wellness and this is one critical fundamental part of our wellbeing that is most neglected and given not the required attention and focus.


Your state of Joyfulness directly influences positively your Mental wellness and general wellbeing.


The Joy of the Lord is my strength - Psalm 118:14


Happiness is transient and based on positive external events or occurrences that makes us momentarily elected but soon fizzled away once the euphoria dies down.


Happiness tends to depends on things happening but Joy (running deeper and stronger) depends on Christ.


Joy comes when we trust the Lord.

Placing our trust in God brings joy.


We have a God who loves us more than we can imagine, God who is more powerful than we can comprehend, and who has promised to help us if we put our trust in Him.


Settle it in your heart that God wants to help you.


Joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit and the spirit of God in you activates His Joy in you.


You cannot do one without the other hence your need for a vibrant relationship with Christ Himself.


Rejoice in the Lord always I say Rejoice. Phillipians 4:4


You can accept your life as it is, or you can change it.


You can let your life happen to you, or make your life happen through you.










Have you lost your Joy or are troubled, fearful, anxious and stress (your mental wellbeing) in the face of the current world’s chaos and challenges-


Life stressors - Stress is a killer.

  • geopolitical conflicts,

  • wars, rumours of wars,

  • political failures,

  • leadership failures,

  • pandemics,

  • inflation, hyper inflation,

  • diseases (cancer)

  • economic instabilities,

  • financial systems vulnerabilities,

  • toxic home environment -dysfunctional families

  • Relationships breakdown, Community and Corporate conflicts

  • support networks fading off,

  • Unemployment

  • Unmet expectations

  • Doubts, disappointments, insecurities,

  • terrorism etc, etc, etc.


All the above and more are humongous enough to unsettled the most emotionally strong and stable amongst us.


The battle they say is not for the swift but the wise- those with the Wisdom of God explore the ups and downs in our journey of life through the difficult challenges that the world throw at us to come through successfully.


The uncertainty of our shaky socio-political world, “our global village” has become isolated and no more cohesive, relevant and reliable.


However, we are overcomers to them that Trust in Him.


"for everyone born of God overcomes the world.

This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God". 1 John 5 : 4


Be anxious for nothing -


"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4 :6-7


In light of all these unstable indices-


Now this brings me to highlight the -

Let me take you through these principles as an aid and guide to sustaining your mental wellness and awareness through a sustainable state of Joy.


  1. Joy is something God can restore Psalm 51:12

  2. Joy is found in God’s presence Psalm 16:11

  3. Joy found is the result of righteousness-Psalm 97:11, Ecclesiastics 2:26

  4. Joy is found in delighting in God’s Word. Psalm 119:111

  5. Joy is the result of speaking with Wisdom Proverbs 15:23

  6. Joy is produced by righteous Hope-Proverbs 10:28 The hope of the righteous brings Joy

  7. Joy is found in answered prayers.- John 16:24

  8. Joy is produced by the Hoy Spirit- Galatians:22- Hope is the anticipation that God will do something good!

  9. Joy fills our heart as we remember the good things God has done through the people He has placed in our lives. Philippians 1:3-5

  10. Joy comes when we trust the Lord. Psalm 40:4


Placing our trust in God brings joy.


We have a God who likes us more than we imagine, a God who has promised to help us if we put our trust in Him.


That Settles it.


Your mental wellbeing is crystallised in your Joy that is underpinned by your full and unalloyed trust in Him.


For the Joy of the Lord is my strength.
